Finding the Perfect Long Kurti

The kurti is a highly versatile and very comfortable item of clothing that has made its way over from India to the US and Europe. It is still worn as a traditional item, but can also be worn in a modern fashion with jeans and leggings.

More and more women today swear by a kurti – stating that they just need a few kurtis and some leggings/jeans and they can pretty much attend any event!

The kurti is essentially a long top or short dress that will be worn over a skirt, jeans, or leggings. This halfway house gives it the benefits of both types of item: it is loose like a dress and pretty, but it is also more shapely and less unwieldy.

The long kurti is a little more dress and a little less top. It comes down to the ankles in many cases and can still be worn over trousers but tends to be more formal – making it a good choice for a wedding, a meeting, a conference, or any other occasion where you need to dress to impress.

The long kurti could be considered something of a misnomer, in that the term kurti can actually be used to refer to a ‘short kurta’. So, this might be read as ‘long short kurta’! That said, it can also be used to refer to the female version of the kurta, and more often than not the term can be used interchangeably!

Choosing Kurti

If you want a long kurti for a formal, traditional occasion, then you might choose to look for a more traditional, embroidered pattern. For more modern situations, or more casual get-togethers, then you may be interested in a bold floral print. These modern prints look great with a pair of jeans or leggings, where the tighter bottom half offsets the upper half particularly well.

While the long kurti is usually more traditional and formal there are exceptions. Long kurti can also make ideal lounge-wear, which is great for kicking back or relaxing in front of the TV! It’s interesting that the kurti is praised for its flexibility today: after all, it has been traditionally known for being worn all around India and not specifically tied to a particular region – which is quite unusual for any garment. This truly is a piece of clothing that is ‘for everyone’.

If you take a look around this site, then you’ll find a bunch of different designs to match your style and for any kind of occasion. We have long kurti that are ideal for any occasion and that have a range of different patterns, materials and more. We won’t be beaten on price, and our delivery and service is also second-to-none.

On this page, you’ll find a range of different long kurti. But if you’re looking for something else: a short kurti, a shirt-style kurti, a flared kurti… then you can find those on other pages.

Once you have your item, then be sure to dress it up with some other garments, and to consider the jewelry that will go well with it. A long kurti looks great with traditional jewelry and any kurti goes great with chunky, golden items. Think as well about what you’ll be wearing underneath and the sizing.

Whatever you choose, once you discover kurtis, we don’t think you’ll want to go back!
